How we earn money
Thailand Explorer is free to use. We earn money in two ways:
- Hotel bookings on our site. When you book a hotel through Thailand Explorer, the booking is made via our partner Nuitée (LiteAPI), which processes the payment. The price you see is the price you pay, including taxes; our margin is included in that price.
- Affiliate partners. Some links go to partners such as 12Go (transport tickets), MobiMatter (eSIMs) and other travel sites. If you book there, we may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are marked as sponsored.
We aim to recommend places and services on quality, not on commission. We never show pop-ups or pop-under advertising.
Your data
- Browsing: we count visits without cookies and without storing your IP address; a daily-changing, non-reversible hash is used only to avoid counting the same visitor twice on one day.
- Trip planner & app: your trip, checklist and saved hotels are stored in your own browser (local storage). They only leave your device if you choose to save or share your trip, or sign in.
- Account: if you sign in, we store your email address, your saved trip and hotels so they follow you to other devices. You sign in with a one-time code; we don't use passwords.
- Bookings: for a hotel booking we need your name, email and phone number. These are shared with Nuitée and the hotel to make and manage the booking, and we keep a copy so you can view or cancel it. Card details are entered in the secure payment form of our payment partner and never reach our servers.
- Business applications: details you send through the “List your activity” form are only used to review and answer your request.
We don't sell your data and don't place personal data in links to partners. On partner sites, their own privacy policy applies.
Cookies & local storage
We only use functional cookies and local storage: for example your chosen language, currency and light/dark theme, and your trip plan. We don't use advertising cookies. Partner sites you click through to may set their own cookies.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you (for example your account). Email [email protected]; we reply within 30 days.
